Why we exist

Search the web for a computer problem and you'll find page after page designed to frighten you — flashing warnings, fake "virus detected" pop-ups, and a phone number begging you to call. Free Tech Support was built to be the opposite of that. We believe most everyday tech problems have a simple fix, and that you deserve to find it without being scared or upsold.

Our promise to you

  • The real fix comes first, free. Our step-by-step guides cost you nothing.
  • No scare tactics. We will never show fake error messages or tell you to "call now" because of a made-up virus.
  • No surprise remote access. We will never ask to take over your computer out of the blue.
  • Honest recommendations. If a problem genuinely needs new hardware or software, we'll say so plainly. Some of our links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. That never changes the advice we give.

What we can help with

From Windows errors and printers stuck offline to Wi-Fi drop-outs, email headaches, browser pop-ups and slow laptops — if it plugs in or connects to the internet, we can probably help. We also help people who have already bought software and just need a hand installing or activating it.

Who we serve

Our guides are written with readers in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom in mind, using the devices, services and spellings common in those regions.

How we keep it free

Free advice still has costs. We cover them with unobtrusive advertising and the occasional affiliate recommendation — never with pressure or hidden fees. You can read exactly how this works in our Affiliate Disclosure and Privacy Policy.
